Figgy's Brew

Madgy Figgy, a wrecker, was one of the best known of the St. Levan and Burian witches. On the dramatic coastline at Land’s End, at a place known as Tol-Peden-Penwith, there can be found a pile of granite stones which became known as Madgy Figgy’s Chair.

It was from this precarious seat that she would cast her wicked spells to whip up tremendous storms and then, using the light of her lantern, she would lure ships on to the rocks and sailors to their death.

Once the ships were wrecked Figgy and her cronies would loot the bounties from the ships and she was often to be seen dressed in fine clothes and jewels. Apparently, during storms, a light can still be seen on Madgy Figgy’s Chair!!!!
