Folklore

Spriggans were only what can be described as off-shoots from the Troll family. Living in burrows and between detached stones, they were said to be in charge of buried treasure. They claimed to be the ghosts of giants and the Spriggans were often held to blame for all manner of impish acts, from carrying away cattle to demolishing houses.

It was also said that on Christmas Eve in former days the Spriggans would meet, at the bottom of the deepest mines, and have a midnight mass. Then those who were in the mine would hear voices, melodius beyond earthly voices, singing.... so watch out, there could be Spriggans about!!!!
